Bosch 4100 Series Table Saw. A closer look

Bosch 4100DG-09 10-Inch Worksite Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Stand and Digital Rip Fence. If you're looking for a high quality table saw and space and mobility are issues then you can do no better than the 4100 series. This is a tried and true platform with the extra features is better yet. I've done my research on this saw and I've found the best price on-line here

With it's solid construction and a host of handy features, this is one saw with a ton of uses. For the pro craftsman or the serious do-it yourselfer.

Bosch 4100 The Best in Class for Ease of Use
The 4100 table saw is available with Bosch’s gravity rise work stand which converts from portable mode to work mode with practically no effort at all. A design innovation in itself you simply release the legs rock it down and it locks solidly in position ready for use. It's easy to roll around, even on rough terrain, and set-up is a one-man breeze. Folding up the stand only takes a second and almost no energy, so moving the saw is a pleasure.

Dial-up Accuracy For Sure Cuts
The rip fence with the Bosch 4100 is based on a T square style fence. It has a nice solid arm and clamps both ends with one handle. Flip this down and both ends clamp the table. The clamping pressure is adjustable by turning a knob at the back end.
One nice feature available is this digital measurement display which calculates the rip width measurements and shows the numbers on this easy to read digital display. The units button lets you cycle through  formats as needed. 1/16 inch, 1/32 or for greatest accuracy you can flip it to decimal on the inch range (0.01 inch). You can work in decimal units if you want to also.

Tool-Free Modular Safety Features that Help not Hinder

The smartguard system features blade guards on either side of the blade. They move independently and they lock out of the way when you need to access the blade. The smartguard system also features a fork design along the top of the blade. This gives you unobstructed visibility to the blade as it makes the cut. This assembly is mounted on the riving knife and can be removed in a snap using a quick release lever. The anti-kickback pawls form the final part of the modular safety features and also feature a quick release tool-free mount on the splitter/riving knife.
The riving knife which prevents the kerf from closing against the blade can be locked in any of three height positions using a finger-operated lever.
  1. for using the full blade guard system.
  2. The riving knife on its own for grooving type cuts.
  3. Fully withdrawn position to park the riving knife below the table surface entirely.
As the riving knife forms part of the same assembly as the blade arbor, it, the guard and anti kickback pawls follow the blade exactly, maintaining critical alignments and clearances to maximize safety and performance.

Miter gauge Compatibility
The table has two full sized 3/8"deep by 3/4" wide, T-shaped miter slots. The saw comes complete with a full-featured miter gauge which slides into either slot. They also make the Bosch 4100DG-09 compatible with many shop-built jigs or the wide range of aftermarket accessories you can buy without modification.

Extending Table
With the Bosch 4100 series the table extends and then locks in place for ripping wide materials like plywood up to a maximum 40 1/2 inch wide. The maximum distance from fence to blade is 25". This makes the Bosch 4100 match the capabilities of many full sized table saws for most woodworking jobs.

A Place For Everything
Another nice feature are the on tool storage areas for the anti kick back pawls, blade guard, rip fence as well as the miter guage. Blade guards can be neglected and maybe never used without a convenient place to store them. The smartguard system and anti-kickback pawls clip into a special holder so they won't vibrate loose.
